Once the core design is created, we select and place each piece in the same manner that we do when creating original stained glass artwork, then use custom digital brushes to create a gentle patina for a classic look. They are then printed on a professional grade cling vinyl using a proprietary process that sandwiches an opaque white ink in the solder lines between two layers of vibrant color. (See details in the third image above.)This creates an image that has the vibrance and authenticity of original stained glass, at a fraction of the cost. The flexible, static cling material also allows the artwork to be applied and removed multiple times with no adhesive.Artist Statement: Throughout time, every culture has made its own heroes, villains and icons, about whom we create artwork and stories as a way of understanding the universe and our place within it. In modern geek culture, I think that many pop culture characters and institutions serve this function, and juxtaposing those images with a historic artistic medium like stained glass is a way for us to show how important a role they play in individual identity in modern society.
